A 1973 tapestry by Robert Wogensky : Robert Wogensky (1919–2020) was a French artist and tapestry designer known for his lyrical abstract compositions. A student of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and a key figure at the Manufacture des Gobelins, he contributed to the revival of modern tapestry in the mid-20th century, blending subtle color harmonies with refined geometric forms. Made in Aubusson Aubusson, a town in central France, has been celebrated for its tapestry weaving since the 17th century. Recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Aubusson tapestries are prized for their exceptional craftsmanship, fine wool and silk work, and artistic collaboration with painters and designers. Over the centuries, the Aubusson workshops have produced masterpieces that blend tradition and innovation, securing their place as a symbol of French decorative art.
